Trichloroethylene, chemical formula C2HCl3, is a compound formed by replacing three hydrogen atoms in an ethylene molecule with chlorine. Trichloroethylene is a flammable liquid that poses a risk of fire and explosion when exposed to open flames and high heat. Trichloroethylene has been used as an analgesic and metal degreaser, as an extractant, fungicide, refrigerant, and as a dry cleaning agent for clothes.
Function and Application
Excellent solvents used as metal surface treatment agents, cleaning agents before electroplating and painting, metal degreasers, and extractants for fats, oils, and paraffin. Used for organic synthesis and pesticide production. Trichloroethylene can be used as a anthelmintic in the production of tetrachloroethylene; Used for the production of hexachloroethane as a veterinary anthelmintic for the prevention and treatment of liver leech disease, stomach leech disease, clonorchiasis, and nematode disease in ruminants.
First aid measures
Skin contact: Immediately remove contaminated clothing and thoroughly rinse the skin with soap and water. Seek medical attention.
Eye contact: Lift the eyelids and rinse with flowing water or saline solution. Seek medical attention.
Inhalation: Quickly leave the scene and move to a place with fresh air. Keep the respiratory tract unobstructed. If breathing is difficult, administer oxygen. If breathing stops, immediately perform artificial respiration. Seek medical attention.
Ingestion: Drink plenty of warm water and induce vomiting. Seek medical attention.
Storage precautions
Store in a cool and ventilated warehouse. Stay away from sources of fire and heat. The storage temperature shall not exceed 25 ℃, and the relative humidity shall not exceed 75%. The packaging requires sealing and must not come into contact with air. It should be stored separately from oxidants, reducing agents, alkalis, metal powders, and edible chemicals, and avoid mixing storage. Not suitable for large-scale storage or long-term storage. Equip with corresponding types and quantities of fire-fighting equipment. The storage area should be equipped with emergency response equipment for leaks and suitable containment materials.
