Storage conditions

1. Keep the storage container sealed and store it in a cool, dry place, ensuring good ventilation or exhaust in the workspace.

2. For the packaging and storage of this product, please refer to benzene. Packaging, labeling, storage, transportation, and delivery acceptance shall be carried out in accordance with ZBE300005.

stability

If used and stored according to specifications, it will not decompose, there are no known hazardous reactions, and oxidation should be avoided.

2. Colorless and transparent liquid with moderate toxicity, operators should wear protective equipment.

3. This product has moderate toxicity. After being absorbed through the skin, its impact on health is much smaller than that of benzene. When the content of xylene in the air reaches 0.71 × 10-6, a foul odor can be felt, with toluene at 0.48 × 10-6 and benzene at 1.5 × 10-6. At such concentrations, benzene poses a risk of chronic poisoning, while xylene is hardly a concern. High concentration xylene vapor, such as 1000 × 10-6 or more, not only damages the mucosa and stimulates the respiratory tract, but also exhibits excitatory and anesthetic effects, and even causes hemorrhagic emphysema and death. The incidence of poisoning caused by oral ingestion of xylene is extremely rare. If xylene or solvents containing xylene are accidentally taken orally, it can strongly irritate the esophagus and stomach, cause vomiting, and may also lead to hemorrhagic pneumonia. Liquid paraffin should be immediately consumed and medical treatment should be sought. The LC of xylene vapor on mice is 6000 × 10-6, and the lowest oral lethal dose for rats is 4000mg/kg.

4. It is a mixture of ortho xylene, meta xylene, and para xylene, called mixed xylene, with meta xylene having a higher content.
